Unboxing: DM MG [1/100] Sword Strike

July 31, 2016

I've heard so much hype about this kit even before it was released, and I picked one up last year but only now decided to crack it open. Okay I have to admit the design of the kit looks stunning! Thinking that Dragon Momoko is a third party producer of model kits, they really stepped u their game on their Strike line. Comparing it to Bandai's MG Strike, this one has tons of added details which looks like it was based on Bandai's PG Strike with more flare. But the idea of putting PG detail and shrinking it into 1/100 scale gives this model extra points! Don't get me wrong, DM is still a bootleg and Bandai will always be the go to producers but this kit really brings competition.

Now I only got the Sword Strike but there is also the Launcher version and the Sky Grasper as well which when placed together can make the "Perfect Strike" but the Strike base kit is plenty enough for me. Now lets start this unboxing.

I love the white themed box and instead of a picture of the anime version it shows the actual look of the finished kit. The white theme started when they began releasing their own design outputs into their kits if I am not mistaken.

The sides of the box show the gimmicks and highlights of the model.

And sliding this out through the side reveals another neat package.

Manual and decals.

Looks like they added fully articulated hands on this kit as well! Bandai's new releases came with this but none from the seed series yet, another point for DM. Still doubtful about them though the plastic doesn't look that held together.

So far so good. The molding of the details pulled through, not all details are as sharp and clear and the molding may be a bit inconsistent.

Plastic coated wire for the "ejector anchor" gimmick. Looks really sturdy.

Hello there foil stickers.

Still currently assembling it but it comes together very nicely and the extra detail makes it look hella sharp. The redesigned Strike looks good on its own and all the seam lines are covered well (yay). The plastic won't be as high quality as Bandai but thats a given so you should expect not all parts to fit that snug without slight modification. The articulate hand works but sadly i snapped the thumb and pinky of both hand by accident (glued it back though) haha guess its a bit fragile so be careful on that.

Final verdict: Worth your money.
If you're not closed minded on Bandai kits this one may just change your mind. It wont hurt to try something new, this is cheaper as well so those who cant always afford a high quality gundam kit may pick this alternative. But Bandai made and produced Gundam still making DM a bootlegger. But once again kudos to this kit.

Till Next Time!
